31701- SPRINGFIELD U.S. MODEL 1816 FLINTLOCK MUSKET DATED 1836. 42” smoothbore .69 cal. barrel with Springfield “V/P/EAGLE HEAD” proofs. Lock stamped ‘EAGLE/U.S.” and “SPRING/FIELD/1836”. A well done correct reconversion to flintlock. Complete with exception of sling swivels which have been removed. Very good overall with original patina on metal and the original finish on stock with visible Government Ordnance Inspector’s cartouche on side panel. Initials “GKB” with Masonic device on right butt and “JHE” on left side. Lock in good working order and bore with moderate black powder corrosion. Nice display Model 1816 with Indian Removals and Texas War of Independence dated lock.
