Description:
The Spencer was the original powerhouse simply due to rate of fire. At 14–20 shots per minute, it was nearly 7 times faster than the muzzle loaders of the time. The cartridge it fired was a .56-56 Spencer Rim Fire which is probably the cause of its relatively short history as the center fire Winchester 1866 edged it rather quickly. This one is actually chambered in .44-40 Winchester to take advantage of the current ammunition supply and reliability. It is a fairly faithful reproduction of the original updated with modern materials and production techniques. It would be at home in any rendezvous, or re-enactors gathering from Civil War on... Or just a fun gun to shoot. .44-40 Winchester
