Description:
The Colt Woodsman Match Target 3rd Model is a classic American target pistol renowned for its precision, craftsmanship, and legacy in competitive target shooting. Chambered in .22 Long Rifle, it is designed for accuracy and reliability, making it a favorite among sport shooters and collectors. This model was part of the third series of Woodsman pistols manufactured in 1966. The 3rd generation pistols were made between 1955 and 1977, when Colt discontinued the entire .22 auto line. It provides a balanced combination of maneuverability and precision. There are many high-quality .22 target pistols from S&W, Ruger, and High Standard, but I think none have the elegance and feel of the Match Target. The Woodsman Match Target exudes Colt’s signature high-quality craftsmanship. The pistol has a Patridge front sight and an Ellison adjustable rear sight, allowing shooters to fine-tune their aim for pinpoint accuracy. The checkered walnut grips, distinct to the third series, include a thumb rest for enhanced ergonomics, ensuring a comfortable and stable grip during extended shooting sessions.
This pistol is in very good condition. It functions flawlessly and is very accurate. The metal is smooth, with no scratches, pitting, or rust. Bluing has some age-related fading/ patina, no bare metal exposed. Mechanical functioning is flawless. Overall, it's a very nice 59-year-old Colt at a very fair price.
