MASSACHUSETTS Made Mid-1800s GAME GETTING Rifle
Here we present an antique Engraved L. Jordan Back Action Percussion Rifle. Levi Jordan of Adams, Massachusetts, was an active gunmaker between 1849 and 1865. This is an attractive little rifle, trimmed in German silver and engraved. It has a 12 ¾” length of pull and a relatively short overall length along with a .34 caliber rifled bore. Sights are fine target sights to include the lollipop peep at the back and the small brass “iron” mounted on the barrel for use if one took out the peep. Maker marked “L JORDAN ADAMS MASS.” on the barrel.
The overall condition is very good. Original brown patina. Strong action. The bore has slightly dimmed and maintains strong rifling. This example sports a solid stock with signs of light use and has thin crack at the left side screw. Legible markings. Most metal parts are lightly engraved. A great little long rifle from Massachusetts!
