Description:
MODEL 53 .25-20 SOLID FRAME, #2XXX, MADE IN THE 1ST. FULL YEAR OF PRODUCTION 1925. Nice unaltered example that shows fine blue on the correct 22" barrel with only minor thinning. Buckhorn rear sight with small blade/bead front sight in the correct ramp. Exc. markings. The receiver has mostly flaked to gray which s typical of 1920s vintage Winchester lever actions. Exc. screws with good blue in the protected areas of the receiver and on the loading gate. Excellent stock and forend with tight wood to metal fit and retains the original steel butt plate. Tight action, strong safety half-cock on the hammer and bright exc. bore. After the Stock Market Crash of 1929 very few of these were manufactured until it was discontinued for World War II. A fairly scarce 100 year old lever action model.
