Payment Types Accepted: USPS Money Order, Money Order, or Certified Check Description: This is a rarely seen Sharps Old Model 1874 Civilian Carbine. While this rifle may appear to be one of the "Meacham" conversions, it is not. It is noted on page 237 of Sharps Firearms by Sellers that there was a group of rifles made in 1876 from leftover parts that fall in the 157000 - 159000 serial number range; this is one of those rifles, which are referred to as the "Old Model" 1874. In total, 398 Model 1874 carbines were made at the Bridgeport factory, with most of them being 45-70 and having the military barrel band - this rifle is 50-70 and does not have the barrel band, making it a rare sight. This rifle, SN 157153, letters as a Model 1874 Carbine, and was shipped to B. Kittredge & Co. on April 26th, 1876. It is described as being .50 caliber (50-70) with a 25 inch barrel, and it remains in this configuration. Evidently, this rifle was then sold on to Freund & Bro in Wyoming, as the barrel is marked by them. As far as the rifle itself; the actions functions flawlessly, and the firing pin is intact. In addition to the frontier history, this rifle can as well be traced back to the Russell Galloway collection, which it was obtained from in the 1980s. Mr. Galloway noted that he obtained the rifle in Livingston, Montana in the 1920s. Documentation stating such is included. This further affirms the originality of this rifle. The payment methods listed are the only ones that I will accept. Shipping is included in the price, and will be fully insured with signature confirmation.
