This Spanish made Remington Rolling Block rifle was manufactured under license from the Remington Arms company. It was the standard Spanish infantry arm from its adoption in 1871 until the turn of the century. The rifle is a very close copy of Remington's standard No. 1 military rolling block, but it measures a bit longer than most 11mm rolling blocks. The rifle was originally chambered in the same "Spanish Remington" cartridge as the earlier Model 1869-70 Remington (American) built Spanish Rolling Block rifle first adopted by Spain. ?In 1889 most Oviedo Spanish rolling blocks were rechambered to the improved Spanish "Reformado" cartridge, as designated by the “R” marked on the breech of the barrel. It was this cartridge that U.S. soldiers faced in Cuba during the Spanish-American war. This is a nice rifle that would go well with a Trapdoor or Krag that would have been on the American side of the Spanish American War! The overall condition is good. Original plum patina. Strong action. The bore is in good shape with scattered shimmer and has mostly dimmed. Receiver dated 1876. The stock is in good shape overall and has been re-varnished. Markings legible. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 37 inches. Caliber: .43 Spanish Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE.
