About as good as they come. Here's an amazing example of the very desirable and hard to find 243 standard weight rifle with steel buttplate and 24" barrel.
S/N 354008 with matching scribed bolt made in 1955.
This is a first year gun for this late addition caliber to the pre 64 line and a very hard one to find with its earlier quality production features and a steel buttplate. Most 243s were made in featherweight, target, or with plastic buttplates from 1959 on.
The condition is remarkable, appearing nearly new with 99% original finishes and only a few scattered and minor safe nicks in the lustrous lacquer wood finish.
The bore and mechanical functions are flawless as anticipated. Even the bolt body and scribed S/N show almost no wear whatsoever. The bolt face appears unfired beyond factory testing.
An extremely fine rifle worthy of any collection.
