This 139 year old rifle is a piece of western history and although I have not fired it, I would not hesitate to do so.
A "half octagon, half round" barrel was not a standard production option and is considered highly collectible among firearms enthusiasts. Due to its rarity, a Winchester 1873 with a half octagon/half round barrel commands a significantly higher price than a standard model in similar condition.
