Description:
A.H. Fox Boxlock, circa 1917, this is an upgraded gun with factory card showing it originally a BE, the engraving looks to be XE from that time period, the wood has DE checkering pattern, we don't know who did any of the upgrade work and we don't know if any of it might have been done at Fox, the barrel flats and water table are marked as a D grade, 12 bore, 7 lbs. 3 oz., 2 3/4" chambers, ejectors, 30" Krupp fluid steel barrels, choked .010 IC and .019 Mod, 13 1/2" LOP over a 1" red pad with leather covered heel, 1 3/8" DAC, 2" DAH, 1/8" cast off, single selective trigger, pistol grip with carved "W" initial, splinter forend with ebony inlay in tip, boxlock action with heavy oak leaf engraving and game scenes on both sides and bottom, barrels engraved "Krupp Fluid Steel, Made By" on right tube and "A.H. Fox Gun Co. Phila PA" on left tube, raised concave machined game rib with front and mid ivory beads, trigger guard engraved in oak leaf pattern with initial "W" in a shield which is the same style as the grip cap, nicely figured walnut stock with fancy checkering pattern featuring points and ribbons as well as a checkered panel behind action.  Excellent condition gun showing some traces of case colors remaining, nice and tight and on face, bores are excellent and untouched and still slightly undersized at .728 on both left and right, min. wall thickness .032 on both, blue excellent with slight softening at muzzle, wood is very good with a few handling marks and a small surface chip behind top tang.  All in all, a very nice condition and looking gun.
