Description:
Hammerless Sidelocks - This is a well-maintained Purdy from 1887. It has great dimensions for many. The Purdey patent self-opening mechanism opens the gun quite smoothly. I prefer non-ejector guns like this in the field as they keep shells from being tossed all over the place. Considering the age of the gun the engraving is surprisingly crisp. I love how the wood grain moves throughout the wood in the stock. Stunning.
The choking is very English, featuring full choke left and open right. I personably would consider opening up the left choke to a Modified or less but too each his own. This can be done by our recommended gunsmith for only $80.
