very nice looking Antique Colt Open Top Model Single Action Pocket Revolver with a 2.375” round barrel, , 7 shot ,spur trigger, and walnut grips in .22 short . display case, and vintage .22 short RF ammo. serial # 77826. Matching numbers on barrel and frame.
The Colt Open Top Model Single Action Pocket Revolver was produced by Colt from 1871 to 1877. The Open Top model was Colt's first successful metallic cartridge revolver, and it was a popular choice among civilians. The revolver was designed to fire a black powder .22 rimfire cartridge, and it featured a unique open-top frame design that made it easy to load and unload.
The spur trigger on this particular revolver was a common feature of pocket revolvers of the time, and it made it easy to draw and fire the weapon quickly. The walnut grips are also a nice touch, adding to the overall aesthetic appeal of the revolver.
Condition: 2.375” nice bore with some very minor pitting and still showing strong rifling. Original metal surfaces still retain most of the original nickel on the barrel and cylinder. The frame retainsa nice finish turning to a pale ocher brass showing some dings and minor scratches. The smooth walnut grips remain in near excellent condition with strong parts of original varnish and some light handling marks. The barrel markings are very good and legible. Mechanically has a strong hammer action with good timing and lock-up
