US canteen from the Indian wars thru the Spanish American war period. This one was probably used last in the Spanish American war as the back is stenciled VA, 1, C most likely the first Virgina company C, which was a Span Am era unit from Virginia. The cover is in good condition with typical stains. The leather sling is dry but period. The stopper and chain are present. Please feel free to contact me with questions.
