STK# P-36-95

 Allen Conversion – M1870 – 50-70 Trapdoor –Stk# P-36-95

This M1870 Allen Conversion .50-70 trapdoor has a 35-5/8” tapered round barrel, fixed front sight and original ladder rear sight. Bore is very dark, with only faint rifling, remaining and deep pitting throughout. The P grade walnut stock has some scattered usage marks and faint inspector’s proof mark can be seen. Metal components have developed mottled gray patina, consisting of standard iron mounts including barrel bands with stacking swivel. The breech block is stamped with the standard “U.S. Model 1870" over crossed arrows, an eagle head and “US” markings. The lock plate bears the spread eagle, "U.S. SPRINGFIELD 1863". Standard factory wood to metal fit. The metal ramrod is missing.  Length of pull is 14-1/2”, Overall 52”, weight: 8.02 lbs. Condition: Fair. Manufactured by Springfield Armory.

 Note:  There are carvings in the left side of the stock adjacent to the trapdoor, and on the left side of the stock.
