Description:
This is an interesting Colt right here, not often does one find a Navy with a copy of the factory letter and when one does, it’s just a basic New York shipment. This example here was shipped to California on March 7, 1862. Shipped to F. H. Gray. I have tried to do research to determine who Gray is but have had no luck yet. This example shows a wonderful untouched patina appearance throughout. The grips are good condition overall. The cylinder scene is crisp and shows about 60% scene remaining. Mechanically functions very well. All visible serial numbers match. This very well could’ve been ordered to outfit one of the few California units for the Civil War and then went out east with the soldiers. One could only imagine the story this one could tell. I doubt the opportunity to acquire another California shipped Navy will come up again as this is the first and only I’ve ever seen. Shipping is $30 plus actual insurance cost. Thank you!
