Description: Reduced This is a good example of a Springfield Model 1871 Rolling Block Rifle manufactured in 1872. Chambered in the venerable .50-70. Approximately 10,000 U.S. Army Rolling Block rifles were manufactured 1871-1872 by Springfield Armory under a royalty agreement with E. Remington & Sons. "MODEL 1871" marked on the left side of the receiver and an eagle and shield over "U.S./SPRINGFIELD/1872" marked on the right side. Inspector cartouche on the left side of the stock. Comes with original cleaning rod. Overall, the gun is in very good condition. No finish on the barrel - correct for this gun. These were left bright. This one has a greyish, mottled finish. No serious pitting. There is just a hint of the original case-hardening visible on the receiver. Areas of light spotty oxidation throughout. Generally ver good wood stock with expected dings and scratches here and there. The letters ANM are stamped on buttstock. There is a white streak that appearscto be from rubbing along a painted surface. US marked buttplate has some pitting on heel. The bore is fantastic. $975 + Shipping. SOLD |
