Excellent H&R, Defender 38, wartime production, with 4” barrel having ramp front and horizontally adjustable rear sight. The left side of the barrel is marked Defender 38 while the H&R address is on the right along with the caliber reference. Full serial number on the front strap with last three digits repeated at rear of cylinder and extractor star. Major components blued with color cased hardened hammer and single piece grip having three checkered panels. Complete with an original blue shipping box, details on unnumbered end label, instructions printed inside lid. Also present is a strip of period literature that advertises this revolver.

Condition:

Excellent, retaining 98-99% original blue with cylinder ring as imaged and a tiny ding under the barrel. The hammer retains nearly all its case-hardened colors. The checkered walnut grip in comparable condition. Mirror bore. The action functions well excepting that the hand does not catch to rotate the cylinder on one chamber. The shipping box is VG/Excellent with shelf wear as expected along with early separations. One of the harder to find H&R revolvers especially in such exceptional condition with shipping box and literature.
