Special Order Colt Government Model National Match 1911 .45 ACP – 1935
This is a rare and beautifully preserved Colt Government Model National Match pistol chambered in .45 ACP, manufactured in 1935. These hand-fitted, high-precision pistols were built by Colt for competitive shooting and represent some of the finest craftsmanship of the pre-WWII era. This particular example appears to be a special order pistol, retaining nearly all of its original finish and factory features.
Markings:
  • Right side of the slide: “NATIONAL MATCH COLT AUTOMATIC CALIBRE .45” with the rampant Colt logo.
  • Left side of the slide: “COLT’S PT. F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD, CONN. U.S.A.” along with patent dates.
  • Left side of the trigger guard: “VP” in triangle (Verified Proof) and “X” inspection mark.
  • Right side of the trigger guard: “60”.
  • All serialized components are matching.

Sights / Optics:
The pistol features a fixed blade front sight and a square notch rear sight dovetailed into the slide—typical of early National Match models.
Stock Configuration & Condition / Grips:
The grips are two-piece checkered wood panels with a checkered mainspring housing. The checkering is crisp with only light handling marks. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the grips are in Excellent condition.

Bore Condition:
The bore is bright with sharp rifling and no signs of erosion. Excellent condition.
Overall Condition:
This pistol retains approximately 99% of its original blued finish. The screw heads are sharp, and all markings are clear and legible. This example is in Excellent overall condition, showing only light signs of careful handling.
Mechanics:
The action functions flawlessly, with a snug slide-to-frame fit. Though unfired in our evaluation, as with any used firearm, it may benefit from a thorough cleaning prior to use.
