Description:
Winchester Model 1892 .44-40. Made in 1905 and supported by a factory letter, serial 278560 has a 24-inch octagon barrel (.730-inch at the muzzle flats, double leaf rear sight). DIMENSIONS: Weight is 7.2 pounds and the length-of-pull is 12.75 inches. CONDITION: The bore has browned, with moderate roughness and softened rifling. Hammer notches are solid and the trigger operates properly. Chamber has been polished by a professional gunsmith to remove a burr at the mouth. Metal finish has thinned and browned. Wood is fair, with gaps and chips around the tang and a sling swivel hole in the toeline. The price is firm and layaway is available.
