We specialize in gun storage, estate and collection sales. We focus on Curio & Relic millitary collectibles. Description: Israeli FAL Heavy Barrel FN FALO 7.62x51 Semi-Auto Rifle. Israeli built under license as a "near-copy" of the Model FN FALO 50.41 in 7.62 NATO, "Makleon". “FALO” is an abbreviation from the French name "Fusil Automatique Lourd" or "Heavy automatic rifle" as opposed to FAL which is "Light Automatic Rifle" "Fusil Automatique Leger". Slamfire, LLC is an FFL/SOT based in Deer Trail, Colorado. From a long-term collection built up over more than 30 years, we have just acquired a small batch of FN FAL model rifles and (semi-auto) LMG models to sell, surplused from militaries across the world. FOR SALE FROM THIS COLLECTION: As-New / EXCELLENT Israeli Heavy Barelled FALO FAL 7.62x51 Semi-Auto Rifle. Nicknamed the "Makleon". Israeli FAL Heavy Barrel FN FALO semi-auto rifle in .308/7.62 NATO built from an as-new kit on a high quality US made DSA receiver. It has been built from a correct and complete kit with numerous Hebrew markings on many components, including the fire selector markings. It comes with an unissued and correct Israeli sling. This firearm has been a safe-queen for the last 15 years, and is in EXCELLENT condition. We believe that it has only been test-fired, it has a shiny and clean bore. There are a few "squaddie" marks from military-life, from handling on the range, armory or in the field, mainly around the bipod mount, probably from clumsy deployment and folding of the bipod, but they in no way detract from the condition of the piece. In the Israeli war of independence, the Haganah was using whatever weaponry it could get its hands on – Kar98ks, Sten guns, SMLEs, etc. But after the establishment of the state, the new IDF needed more of a standard service rifle – and that rifle needed to be modern and capable. The FN FAL rifle and FN FALO squad automatic weapon were purchased from FN and after that they were domestically manufactured under license in Israel. It is said that Israel exchanged a license for the Uzi SMG for the license to build FAL's. As is common with the Israeli FAL, these Israeli variants have their own unique features such as the wooden handguard, buttplate, flash-hider etc. The rifle being offered for sale is the Israeli heavy barrel version of the FAL, the FALO, nicknamed "Makleon", and built under license in Isreal. The Israeli-manufactured variant has unique characteristics. The black pistol grip is standard as is the heavy wood stock, but it has a hinged buttplate similar to the the M14, to assist when firing from the prone position, or when using fully automatic fire. The wooden handguard is very distinctive, with a prominent perforated metal heat shield extending from it. The Israelis also upgraded the sights and flash hider. With a heavy barrel for accurate sustained fire, and a very robust bipod, this LMG weighs in at around 13 lbs. This pattern of rifle was adopted in 1955, and kept in service until October 1973. This rifle was is designed for sustained fire and superior accuracy. The heavy barrel configuration enhances heat resistance during prolonged firing. Chambered in 7.62x51mm NATO, this rifle delivers the power and range for effective for long-range engagements, defensive roles, and recreational shooting. The robust gas-operated, tilting-bolt system offers reliable operation under hard field conditions. The heavy barrel not only aids in reducing heat but also improves overall stability, contributing to tighter groupings and greater accuracy during sustained fire. The Israeli FALO, combines historical significance with practical functionality. Its robust construction, distinct bipod design, and compatibility with 20-round detachable box magazines make it both a desirable collector’s piece, and a highly capable firearm in its own right for the range or field. Whether admired for its historical role in military conflicts or utilized as a dependable semi-automatic rifle, this FALO variant exemplifies the legendary durability and performance that has earned the FAL its nickname as "The Right Arm of the Free World." This is an interesting version of the FAL, and one not often seen. This is an extremely robust firearm that excels on the range, and it is a striking display piece. A standard Israeli Metric 20 round magazine will be included in the purchase. There are rumored to be 30 round Israeli magazines out there somewhere, but we have never seen one... the Belgian or Austrian versions may be found to complete the display?
