Early serial number 688 Spencer 1860's carbine commercialy converted to smooth bore shotgun, approximately 56-58 caliber. The walnut stocks are in very good condition. The 30 inch smooth bore barrel has a front bead sight. The markings on top of the receiver are very faint. The serial number is #688. The metal has a pleasant brown patina. The action functions well.
