Description: Comes with CMP Certificate of Authenticity This Underwood M1 Carbine is from Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) and was handpicked by the consignor at the Anniston store. It was likely produced in 1943. The barrel has the flaming bomb and the date 10-43 and P proof mark. Behind the 2364111 serial number on the receiver there is a T. This T indicates this receiver was subcontracted to InterType Corporation. The parts are mostly Underwood correct with the incorrect parts being from a rebuild. Rebuild parts are the rear sight and front barrel band with bayonet lug. The safety is a Type III push button, which is uncommon because most of these were replaced in rebuild. It was found the soldiers were unintentionally pushing the magazine release instead of the safety. These button safeties were replaced with flip safeties. The stock has a P-U in the sling well. There is a very, very faint cartouche on the right side of the stock. It is the UEF over GHD with cross cannon. It also has a MR stamped on left near top of butt plate. MR signifies this carbine was rebuilt at Mount Rainier Ordnance Depot. The hand guard is marked PW, signifying it was a wartime replacement handguard. SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes |
