Scarce and immediately recognizable Devel customization of S&W M39-2 in satin nickel finish. Modified by Charles Kelsey of Devel, these pistols laid the foundation of many features that we now take for granted in today’s compact carry guns. Popularized by author Rex Applegate, these Devels have nearly a cult following. This example, made 1970/1971, has shortened slide and frame with special S&W checkered panels, each having an added red enameled Devel emblem in the checkered field. Hard chromed bobbed hammer and reduced frame spur. For better reliability, Devel use Wolfe springs. Standard S&W rear sight, front sight smoothed with recess for paint. Polished barrel feed ramp, lowered ejection port, and fined tune for reliability. Devel customized magazine with dual pinned finger extension base. Complete with period correct S&W box for a blue finish Model 39. Synopsis: Smith & Wesson, Devel, Model 39-2, 109978, A-1631 Condition: Excellent original condition with just a few truly minute handling scuffs, most on frontstrap. Grips as new. Mirror bore.
