Description:
NSN, .57 Caliber, 7" barrel with a fair-good, lightly pitted bore. This is a svelte, nicely proportioned pistol that has a fairly bright yellow patina along the barrel that displays some heavy darkening at the muzzle, as well as along the right side of the breech surrounding the touchhole. The top of the breech has a softened, but still legible "D. EGG LONDON" marking with deeply struck proofs. The lock has a dark, plum-brown patina, with thin surface oxidation and pinprick pitting throughout. The remnants of the Durs Egg maker name can be seen ahead of the cock, but they are now illegible. The lock itself only catches at half-cock, not full-cock. The pin-fastened walnut stock has handling marks and minor blemishes scattered about the added oil finish, some tiny shallow chips around the pin, and cleaned brass fittings. A period wooden ramrod is included. This is a nice brass-barreled pistol, by a legendary maker, and is in good condition overall. Antique;
