Description:
Excellent All Matching Argentine Military Model 1891 Rifle
We are pleased to offer one of the finest early Argentine Mauser as we have had in quite a long time. The Argentine Mauser Military Model 1891 rifle with serial number “B.U.93”, is a superb and historically significant collector's piece.
The Model 1891 Mauser was adopted by Argentina in 1891, and it was one of the earliest bolt-action rifles using smokeless powder. These rifles were produced under contract by Loewe & Company of Berlin, later part of Deutsche Waffen- und Munitionsfabriken (DWM). The Argentine military phased out the 1891 in favor of the Mauser 1909 in the early 20th century, but many 1891s remained in reserve or saw limited service thereafter. The serial number “B.U.93” places it relatively late in the production run. The prefix system used by DWM and Loewe typically followed a sequential alphabetic system. "B.U." would be toward the latter part of production, likely dating the rifle to the late 1890s to early 1900s (most likely circa 1896–1898) making this a more valuable and worthwhile ANTIQUE classified Mauser.
The barrel Length 29.13 inches. All matching numbers which greatly enhances collector value. All-matching components are increasingly rare. Also the specimen has sharp Argentine crest on receiver.  It retains just about all original finish on metal. 100% original blue finish on barrel. Appears UNFIRED. Mint Bore. Perfect cartouches in wood.  Minor bruising at the Heel. Likely from standing in a rack – this is common and doesn’t detract much from overall condition, especially when the rest of the stock is strong. One of the finer examples as we had had in quite some time. As it has not been sporterized like many examples and remains in original military configuration, with matching numbers and original crest, it is highly desirable and can be acquired as an antique and shipped directly to the new purchaser.
