Description:
Browning 20g Superposed Superlight O/U Shotgun
Between 1983 and 1984 Browning sold 578 special order Belgium made Superposed shotguns in 12g and 20g in both the Lightning and Superlight configurations and, according to Ned Schwing’s book “The Browning Superposed”, only 227 were made as a 20g Superlight.
All of the guns made for this special order were made as a traditional “Grade I” with the slightly rounded receiver that the “P” series Superposed, with Browning’s infallible Single Select Trigger in gold, and hand engraved in a simple Gr I scroll with the word “Superlight” engraved on the bottom of the receiver and a blue finish.
The 26 ½" barrels have a vent rib with a single brass bead, 2 ¾" chambers, ejectors, and are choked Improved Cylinder (**-) in the bottom barrel and Modified (**) in the top barrel. The left side of the barrel is marked “Browning Arms Company Morgan, Utah & Montreal, P.Q.” over “Made in Belgium By Fabrique Nationale Herstal”.
The gun has a nicely figured stock of American walnut with a checkered straight hand grip, 14 ¼" LOP over the factory hard butt plate, and checkered Schnabel shaped sliding forend.
The gun is on a scaled 20g frame and weighs 6 lbs even.
The gun appears to be unfired and is complete in its original two-piece black box with foam insert and Browning booklet. There is one small mark on the left side of the forend by the forend iron and small mark along the toe line of the butt stock, but for all intents and purposes, I would describe the gun “as new in the original box”.
