Description:
Here is a nice looking 2nd Model. It's all sound; it's all there, but the bore is not good. As I said about another one of these I had, if I were keeping it, I'd have it relined. Round 24" barrel, solid wood with no cracks or serious chips. Rifle functions fine. Apparently this rifle was built during one of the times that Winchester ran short of rifle receivers and not being a company to shut down production over a minor issue such as no rifle receivers, Winchester substituted carbine receivers. (see Madis book) This is one of those rifles with the spots for a saddle ring but saddle rings weren't used on rifles. Lettering is good. No caliber listed as these early '73s were all .44-40s except for a few later ones in .38-40. Again, a nice old Winchester from 1882, a somewhat rare 2nd model and almost everyone's choice of calibers, .44-40 but the bore is not a plus. Antique so no paperwork required. Shipping and insurance included in the price. Please, no texts.
