This is a Lee Enfield No. 1 MKIII chambered in 303 British. Manufactured in 1942. The wood is dark and has dings, the metal is more grey than blue steel. Other than missing the bayonet, this rifle appears complete. Serial numbers match on receiver and bolt. Receiver is stamped 1942 - stock is stamped 1943. This Lee-Enfield No 1 Mark III* chambered in .303 British was made in Australia in 1942 by Lithgow Small Arms Factory. This rifle does not appear to have been refinished.
