Rare U.S. Model 1873 Springfield Trapdoor Rifle ... OUTSTANDING .... LAYAWAY?
45-70 caliber, 32.5" barrel with large V P Eagle Barrel Proofs, S/N 71037, Early correct 73 stepped base rear barrel sight, lockplate marked U.S. Springfield 1873. Early oil quenched breechblock, receiver and tang. High arch breechblock with U.S. Model 1873 markings. Walnut two band stock. The bands, triggerguard and buttplate have most of the original blue finish just a little wear. The barrel retains nearly all of the original blue finish with just a little wear around the muzzle, and two areas in the front the rear barrel band. The stock is just about mint with a nice honey look to the wood, a mint ESA cartouche, mint firing proof and stock makers initials behind the triggerguard, with an original arsenal leather sling.. NICE SHOOTABLE BORE! ...You do not see Model 1873 Trapdoor rifles in this condition for sale today. This rifle is outstanding.
