Here we present a C&R Smith & Wesson .38 Military & Police Model of 1905 Fourth Change Double Action Revolver manufactured circa the 1920s in Springfield, Massachusetts, with a production run between 1915 to 1940.
The Model of 1905 was developed as an advancement of previous military and police revolver designs, created to fulfill the requirements of law enforcement and military users. It was one of the first Smith & Wesson revolvers chambered for the newly introduced .38 Special cartridge, which gained widespread popularity because of its controllable recoil and reliable performance. This revolver quickly became a standard issue for police departments across the United States, earning a reputation for dependability and straightforward operation.
The overall condition is very fine. Original finish. Case colored hammer. Excellent action. Bright bore with strong rifling. Both grips are fine with distinguished checkering. Markings are sharp. Numbers match.
