Description:
1892 SADDLE RING CARBINE, .38-40 CAL., #840XXX, MADE 1917.  A good example that has seen some use, but no abuse. The receiver has turned mainly brown with some good blue on the loading gate and good screw heads. Similarly, the barrel is mostly gray brown with fine markings and original carbine ladder rear sight with slide intact and carbine front sight. The mag tube shows more blue, which is typical as the steel was different and typically held blue better than the barrel. The stock and forend appear a bit "dry" but solid- this one came out of Arizona, which might explain this. Tight action, strong safety half cock and fairly bright bore with only a few isolated spots of pitting. Comes with a Cody Museum call-in sheet indicating that the serial number was applied to this carbine on November 8, 1917. Made the year the U.S. entered World War I.
