Krieghoff Essencia 20 gauge sidelock, an exceptional expression of modern German gunmaking in the English tradition. Built in 2004 with serial number 1005, this gun features a genuine back-action sidelock with Purdey-style third fastener, disc-set strikers, Holland & Holland-style ejectors, and a gold-washed single non-selective trigger—all finely integrated into a round-body action with seamless lines and balance.
Barreled at 30" with 3" chambers, this Essencia is choked Improved Cylinder (.009") and Modified (.015"). The solid concave rib is topped with a gold front bead. The action is deeply case colored by the world's finest Jorg Schilling and covered in elegant English scroll with gold-inlaid “KRIEGHOFF” on the sides and “Essencia” in script on the bottom. Gold-plated cocking indicators and rolled-edge trigger guard elevate its already exquisite mechanical and visual presentation.
Exhibition-grade Turkish walnut with a rounded knob pistol grip, checkered butt, and semi-beavertail forend shows only the faintest signs of handling. Stock dimensions: 1.375" DAC, 2.125" DAH, and 14.875" LOP. The gun weighs 6 lb 8.8 oz—perfectly proportioned for a 20 bore sidelock.
Mechanically and cosmetically excellent. Includes factory Krieghoff leather case with canvas cover, original manual, and test target. A rarely encountered example of a modern best gun—suited equally for field or collection.
