Description:
Serial #25204, .56-56 Spencer RF, 22" barrel with a fair bore that has dark spots of pitting along its length. This is a good looking carbine that has matching numbers on the frame and barrel. The barrel itself has an overall dark brown patina with areas of mild pinprick pitting along its length, and a more mottled gray-brown appearance on portions of the receiver. The markings on the metal are slightly obscured, but still legible. The walnut forend has a thick added varnish over numerous small handling marks and blemishes. The buttstock has less obvious wear marks, but is missing a linear chip along the bottom edge of the lockplate. No inspector cartouches are present, and there is some mild surface oxidation on the ring, bar, and plate on the left side of the wrist. The action is fully functional, and a single, functional tubular magazine is included. This is a handsome Civil War Spencer, and rates good overall. Antique;
