Description:
This is a model 1861 Springfield contract rifle. It was made in 1863 by the Savage Firearms Company in Middleton Conneticut. The ramrod is a reproduction as ther are no threads for the worm. The metal has an even patina with rust damage. The steel buttplate has the worst rust damage. The cartouche is partly visable oppisate the Lock. The barrel bands have the U stamped on the side, but two are weak. The bore is almost shot out but some of the lands and grooves are visable. Use the photo's to judge condition for yourself. I tried to show all of the problems in the pictures. This is an honest Civil War rifle that definatly saw service. Shipping is $45.00 to most States. AL, CA, HI, Or and WA, please add $20.00. Money back if not satisfied with the buyer paying the return shipping. Priced to Sell.
