The Savage Arms 99DL is a specific model of the Savage Model 99 lever-action rifle, known for its "Deluxe" features and its production in various calibers. The "DL" designation indicates a deluxe model, often featuring a Monte Carlo comb and other refinements. The Model 99 itself is a classic, hammerless lever-action rifle produced by Savage Arms from 1899 to 1998. This gave Savage a lead in producing rifles that could handle high velocity smokeless powder cartridges with bullets offering flatter trajectories than other lever-action designs. This example is a model 99-DL chambered for the common .308 Winchester cartridge. The DL model was a Deluxe model, the first produced with a Monte Carlo comb, and was marked "99M" on the barrel, presumably to reference the comb. This gun shows minor wear consistent with use, a great bore and strong mechanics.
