Description:
Up for sale is a beautiful, elegant Alfred Lancaster  side by side 16 / 28 gauge hammer shotgun with London Proofs 1913 16 bore with 29" Damascus barrels. This is the #2 gun of a matched pair. This beautiful shotgun appears to be made for a I W Hendricks ESQ per what appears to be the original leather case with A. Lancaster trade label (although the eschutchen bears other initials - see pictures). The barrels are very flattering Damascus with exhibition grade Circassian walnut stock. It bears a Jones underlever "screw lock" opening and closing system which results in a very secure lock up. I was told by the previous owner that the Damascus barrels have been cleaned and polished over the 112 years to remove all slight scratches and blemishes after each shooting season in England and rather than subjecting this excellent gun to London reproof, he had the 16 bores custom fit with Briley Mfg. full length 28 gauge barrels. These tubes have two IC and two Modified chokes (included) and other choke configurations can be purchased through Briley, as needed. The shotgun weighs 6.01 lbs in the original 16 gauge configuration and 6 lbs 11 ounces with the 28 gauge full length tube inserted. The stock length is 14.5" pull to the custom carved and checkered butt plate as measured from the front trigger. The drop at the middle of the comb is 1 5/8" and 2 1/4" at heel. The butt stock is cast off and toe out approximately 1/2".

This lovely shotgun handles very well with excellent balance. It breaks clays with authority and while looking fashionable and would make a great game gun! Included with this sale is presumably the original leather case (missing leather handle) and the tools to remove the full length tubes.
