Description:

Early-1700s OTTOMAN Antique SILVER WIRE INLAID Flintlock Dag BLUNDERBUSS ORNATE
SHORT BARRELED Naval Pirate Ship Boarding Gun  6 inch Barrel.
Up for your condideration is an antique Ornate Inlaid Flintlock Blunderbuss Dag Pistol, made circa the late 1700s to the early 1800s. The blunderbuss is a firearm with a short, large caliber barrel flared at the muzzle and frequently throughout the entire bore and used with shot and other projectiles. The blunderbuss is commonly considered to be an early predecessor of the modern day shotgun, with similar military and defensive use. It was effective only at short range, lacking accuracy at long range. The flintlock blunderbuss was the original coach gun, being a short, handy and devastating weapon at close range. It was used in many capacities, not the least of which were for naval boarding or defending vessels by pirates and navies alike!
The overall condition is good. Dark Patina throughout. The action is strong, and the action fires as it should. The stock is solid with virtually complete 500 REAL SOLID SILVER wire inlay.  (Tested and Magnetic Tested as 500 Silver wire) A beautiful piece from the Ottoman Turkish sphere of influence!
