Description:
The M1911 pistol was the first semi automatic pistol adopted by the U.S. Army and subsequent branches, with the M1911A1 being the improved version developed shortly before the second world war. This example, manufactured by Remington Rand in 1944 has been personalized by one of its previous owner, the whole pistol has been nickel plated and a pair of "sweetheart grips" have been installed, allowing for personal photos to be displayed. Overall condition is fair, there is corrosion across a number of the external parts and nickel is flaking from areas where holster wear is normal. It would also appear that there is a large amount of wear on the barrel locking surfaces, as the slide travels slightly too far forward, indicating excessive wear. This pistol also comes with a heavily worn "Tanker" holster.
