This is a 3rd year production Single Action revolver manufactured by the Great Western Arms Company in 1955. Produced to supply the great demand caused by the explosion of Western Movies and TV shows the Great Western Arms Co. began building copies of the famed Colt SAA Peacemaker revolvers. In very fine to near excellent condition the revolver shows some of the characteristic bright plum colors associated with the early grip frame coating as they worked out the proper chemical mixtures for the coatings. The barrel and cylinder retain about 85-90% of the original blue with some scattered freckling and thinning along the cylinder high edges with a pronounced drag line. The frame shows the original case-hardened colors that are somewhat muted and toning to gray. The original faux stag grips rate excellent. Mechanically it functions properly with proper timing and lock up. It is well marked with "GREAT WESTERN ARMS CO" on barrel top with "45 COLT" on the side. A great looking example of these very collectible large caliber 1950's revolvers. FFL or C&R SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes |
