Description:
This is a nice antique Savage 1895 rifle. The butt plate and stock match the serial number on the receiver as number 4537. The round 26 inch barrel has the JM stamp for the Marlin Co. that made the barrel. The bore is shiny with excellent rifling. The safety and cocked indicator is the hole in the top of the bolt and works correctly. The brass cartridge indicator on the side of the receiver shows the number of shells in the receiver. The barrel has faded blue patina and the receiver is clear with no bluing. There are no pits or rust. The lever still has some of the case hardening. The forearm number doesn't match the serial number. The front sight is the original Marlin Shear number 9 Rocky Mountain sight. The rear sight is a blank because of the tang sight which is a number 18 Savage combination rear sight from Lyman number 1 combination tang sight. The action is strong and locks up tight with no slack in the lever. It will take a 90 grain bullet and out perform a 30-30. Shipping and insurance to your residence $60.00
