A piece of WWII History: A 1943 Saginaw (S'G') M-1 Carbine. SN # 1,864,711
The Saginaw company was originally a producer of power steering, front-wheel and rear-wheel drive axles and adjustable steering columns. It grew out of a company founded in 1906 in Saginaw, Michigan. As other companies did during the war they got involved in the manufacturing of weapons, the M-1 carbine. The S'G' plant produced approximately 223,620 carbines
Markings: Serial number puts the manufacture in 1943 and has the Underwood Barrel 3/43 with Flamng ball. M with WA on the magizine release and MNO on barrel band. IPW on the safety
