Description:
Antique Smith & Wesson 2nd model .38 caliber single action. Here is an excellent Smith & Wesson 2nd model. Has the standard 3 ¼” barrel.. Caliber is the .38 S&W center fire. This little gun retains 98% original bright nickel finish. The barrel latch has near 100% blue. The trigger has about 98% original blue. The case colors on the hammer have faded to a medium gray color with just traces of case color. The mechanics are excellent. Crisp and tight as a new gun. Rock solid barrel to frame fit at the latch and the hinge. Excellent hammer notches at half and full cock. Excellent sights and screw heads. Excellent markings. ++++S/N 500 ++++and ALL matching numbers on the frame, barrel, barrel latch and rear of cylinder including inside the right grip. Probably made 1879. Excellent grips show no wear to the checkering with no cracks or chips and a perfect snap on factory fit. The bore is excellent, bright and shiny and the cylinder chambers are mint, bright and shiny. That is all I can say about this little jewel.. This one is good enough for a factory box if you have one.  For a gun that is 148 years old with this much finish and tight as new. It looks better in hand than in photos show because of the glare of the nickel finish. This beauty was bought to pair to my previous listing #7301
