Description:
For sale here is a somewhat rare Colt Lightning Medium Frame SRC chambered in 44-40. This is a later production Lightning (S/N 48514, 1890 mfg.) with the sliding cover over the receiver top. Blueing on the receiver is gone, replaced with roughness and some pitting in the remaining patina. Rampant colt is not visible. Barrel and magazine tube are somewhat smooth with patina in place of blue, but there is some surface pitting. Colt barrel address is readable. Has checkered forearm grips, with visible wear, but no cracks or loss. Loss of finish on butt stock, and a couple of chips on left side at the buttplate. Small chip loss on forward left buttstock at lower tang. Mechanics are still functioning fairly well, rifle cycles okay for 135 year old carbine. Could use some TLC. Bore is rough with visible rifling still present. Appears to have factory sling swivels.
