Description:
This is a high quality pre-WWII built M1897 Type 30/38/99 Arisaka Rifle Bayonet. This particular M1897 was built by National Denki under Kokura Arsenal supervision and has a deep blued, unsharpened, perfect tip, 15 9/16" blade in excellence condition. The spine and edge are unaltered with a strong "Center cannon ball covered by three others" Kokura and Denki's "Arrow M" makers marks stamp at the ricasso. The guard has much of the original blue with a forward, strongly curved quillon of the earliest pattern with rounded edges and light oxidation. The wooden, very good condition grips are held by two screw bolts with oval washers and have a nice patina with light oxidation on bolts. These grips wrap around and meet at the bottom. The pommel has some of the blue and is stamped with 24520. This is paired with a very good condition all steel scabbard with loop and cylindrical shaped finial with half of its bluing, light surface oxidation. The original leather frog is in very good condition with tight stitching, slightly stiff, fully functional and signs of use.;
