One of the finest Winchester Model 54s that I have ever encountered.
An earlier gun with the low comb stock and schnabel forend tip. S/N 27799A with matching scribed bolt made in 1929! 30-06 caliber stamped .30 GOV'T. '06
Showing an incredible 98% Blue and Varnish overall with the only mentionable wear being some typical thinning/discoloration of the bottom metal which is a common trait to nearly all of this model.
24" barrel with mint bore, along with flawless mechanical functions.
Original sights consist of a post front with pinned blade and the Lyman 66W rear with one standing and one folding leaf.
Of the only 50,000 or so made of this famed forerunner to the world reknowned Model 70, there are very, very few that bare any semblance to their original selves, with most now wearing grossly modified bolt handles/stocks for scope clearance, extra drill holes, recoil pads, and/or a host of other atrocities. To find one in this condition is practically unheard of.
