The Type 99 Arisaka, produced by Nagoya Arsenal, is a Japanese bolt-action military rifle chambered in 7.7x58mm Arisaka. This particular example is a “surrendered" Type 99, typically brought back by U.S. servicemen after WWII. These rifles are often characterized by the removal or defacement of the Imperial Chrysanthemum (the Emperor’s crest), in accordance with surrender terms following Japan‚s defeat.
