Description:
28 inch octagon barrel marked "LEE"S FIREARM'S CO. MILWAUKEE, WIS., PAT'D JULY 22, 1862”. Features a blade front sight with a fixed rear, and checkered straight grip walnut buttstock with a flat ribbed steel buttplate. Metal surfaces retain most original finish turned to a deep brown patina with an area of touch up finish on the right side ahead of the breech. Bore is dark with rough surfaces showing visible rifling. Buttstock is solid with typical wear and handling marks. These were one of the few guns made in the west with an estimated production of approximately 1000 circa 1865-66.
