Description:
Effectively a clone of the renowned Beretta 92FS, the Taurus PT92 AF is a steel frame, hammer-fired semi-automatic pistol chambered in 9mm Luger. The pistol closely resembles the Italian original with only a few minor differences and a much lower price point. The Taurus PT92 series of pistols came about as Taurus procured a factory in São Paulo, Brazil which had previously been used by Beretta to produce pistols for a military contract. Using the leftover equipment and tooling, Taurus started to make these "clones" of the Beretta 92. Because of the age of the Beretta model, patents had expired and Taurus was able to build the guns without a separate license from Beretta. The pistol is built on a classic blued steel frame and slide design with grooved texturing on the front and back straps. The gun also has the iconic exposed 4.9" barrel profile synonymous with the Beretta. The gun sports a set of fixed white 3-dot iron sights and is dressed with a set of checkered hardwood grips with gold Taurus medallions. The gun operates with a double/single-action trigger and the two factory magazines hold 15 rounds of 9mm. While the gun is almost visually identical to the Italian model, the most obvious visible difference is the manual safety on the gun. Original 92FS pistols feature a signature slide-mounted safety/decocker lever; the Taurus PT92 instead uses a thumb safety lever located on the frame in a more traditional location—this is similar to the original Beretta 92 non-FS models. The safety is also ambidextrous, with a decocker option actuated by pushing the lever downward. Additionally, the Taurus PT92 is not compatible with Beretta 92 magazines; they mag bodies do fit each other, but magazine release cuts do not line up between the two models and so they do not lock into place. This PT92 AF is in very good condition and operates perfectly. The gun is fit a little more loosely than a Beretta, but is not terribly noticeable and does not affect the gun's performance. The finish on the frame and slide exhibit some light wear towards the muzzle—particularly around the edges. This Taurus PT92 AF includes two Taurus 15-round magazines and no box or case. 9mm Parabellum
