Description:
This 1955 barrel dated Springfield M1 Garand was rebuilt in October 1966 at the Letterkenny Army Depot. The LEAD rebuild is marked on the front leg of the receiver, indicating being rebuilt at Letterkenny. This M1 garand features a 24" barrel and a blade front sight with protective sides, adjustable DRC aperture rear sight. The Op Rod is marked "D8535382 SA" and the bolt is marked "D28287-18SA /4-40". The trigger group housing is marked "D28290-1 SA", a stamped trigger guard with no markings, "SA-11" safety, "46008-9 SA" hammer. The gas cylinder is a wide base with an "O" gas cylinder lock screw and high hump lock. The stock set is three-piece smooth hardwood with the Letterkenny orange arrow on the pistol grip and the letter "P" on the inside of the wrist with no circle. The barrel is stamped "SA F6535448 10-55 A223A". The receiver is stamped "US RIFLE - CAL .30M1 - SPRINGFIELD ARMORY - 5932662". This doesn't come with any en bloc clips. .30-06 Springfield
