New Addition Near Mint Classic S&W Chiefs Special .38 Revolver
Offered here for sale and just acquired is a classic Smith & Wesson Model 36 "Chiefs Special" .38 revolver in near mint condition. The specimen, serial number 90J958 was manufactured circa 1969-1970. Made immensely popular with its 2" barrel making it the perfect carry weapon, this specimen appears to have been used only with a couple of test shots then oiled and put away for over 50 years.
The Model 36 (“Chief’s Special”) is a small “J?frame” revolver, five?shot, chambered in .38 Special. Introduced in 1950, originally marketed as the “Chief’s Special,” renamed “Model 36” when S&W adopted numerical designations in 1957. The 2?inch barrel version is the classic snubby carry version — compact, concealable, yet still with enough barrel to deliver effective .38 Special performance.
The revolver retains all of its original finish and has a MINT BORE. Some images show a bit of oil residue and "peach fuzz" from our recent wipe down however we will clean fully before shipping. Original matching factory box with papers this is an exceptional classic S&W collectible.
